Itch Management

My treatment program has pretty much eliminated the itches.  Prior to this recovery, when I had the itches, I found the following to be very helpful.

Here's what I do.  First don't fight it. You can't "make it" stop by stirring yourself up, just makes it worse. Deal with it. How?  I do a number of things.    I take a warm bath at night and a warm shower in the morning. Thereafter the left side of my body excluding head, hands and feet is covered in Coconut Oil and the right side in Triamcinolone Steroid Creme.  Head (hair and face) have Coconut Oil. Hands  have Vaseline. Feet currently have coconut oil covered by Vaseline . Deep breathing. There's a lot in Donna's book about breathing.  Dr Andrew Weil has written extensively on this (breathing) too. Why it works for me?  Because, I think it relaxes me, reducing stress and, well yes, itching which I believe increases with stress.  Another thing I do is lightly touch the itching almost caress the parts itching.  I don't scratch much except every once in a while.  May make it worse but sometimes feels good so why not.  Donna's book also has some interesting  stuff on how scratching also has positive aspects on your brain. So try to not to overreact and give it more importance than it deserves, if you can. One other thing.  Focusing on other stuff.  While I've been working on my Blog I haven't noticed the itching that I got up with this morning.  The mind can only deal with one thing at a time (well at least my mind that is :). I believe I am, eventually, going to cure this disease so it won't be forever and in the meantime I can deal with it. Please comment and let us know any ideas you have on this.  Thanks!
